behind the scenes // the today show

We are so excited to announce that we were part of a surprise marriage proposal planned by The Yes Girls and filmed by The Today Show! It should be airing in the next week or two and we will definitely keep you all posted so that you can tune in! 

In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at the set-up with our rentals! We were on the 40th floor overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Marin Headlands. It was just beyond!

When my wonderful friend, Melanie, told me she needed help nailing down the look and feel of her upcoming birthday party I jumped at the opportunity to help! Melanie wanted a look that was simple and easy to achieve. When I asked her what colors she wanted to see at her party she mentioned really liking pastels also the color grapefruit. My mind immediately went to a fun, summery palette of soft pinks + peaches paired with crisp citrus colors like tangerine + grapefruit. Since the party was being held at Hog Island Oyster Co. in Tomales Bay I wanted to incorporate navy blue to ground the bright, summery colors and give a nod to the location's nautical vibe. The Hog Island Oyster Co. sign also happens to be navy which made the pop of blue even more perfect!

Didn't she do a great job of sourcing items + bringing the vision to life?  I was really proud of her! I don't know about you guys but my favorite parts of the table are the fabulous striped runner from Heath Ceramics and the florals by Natalie Bowen Designs!

behind the scenes // jen huang shoot

This past weekend I finally got the chance to work with the amazingly talented Jen Huang. The airy, light-filled quality of her photography has always blown me away so it was an incredibly huge honor to have her photograph my styling work! I am counting the days until we get the photos back but in the meantime, I have some behind-the-scenes photos to tide me over :) 

A big thanks goes out to our talented team of vendors: Natalie Bowen, who created floral magic once again, Melissa Hoffmann, whose hair + make-up skills are just beyond, Honeycomb Events, who did an outstanding job bringing my cake vision to life (the flowers looked SO REAL!!!), Kinsley James who provided the most stunning lace Liancarlo gown and our fabulous model Sarah Rose, who was such a champ even though she was freezing her behind off!

featured: martha stewart weddings

You know those times when you are so excited that you have a hard time formulating words let alone complete sentences? Well, this is one of those times. I am so darn excited. If I were speaking out loud to you right now I would likely be stuttering. Okay, let's be real,  I'd also be jumping up and down and flailing my arms around a bit. (Do you have a good mental picture formed in your head? Excellent. We can continue....)

So why all the jumping and flailing? My work (along with some other incredibly talented artists) was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings yesterday!!! YES. Martha. Stewart. Weddings. I'm not even going to try to play cool and pretend this isn't a big deal to me because Martha is practically my hero. I am so incredibly honored!!!

One True Love Vintage Rentals has been featured on MSW before (I did a happy dance that day as well!) but this is a first for my styling work through Amanda O'Shannessy Creative. And holy moly does it feel good. Not only does it feel good because I absolutely love how this wedding turned out aesthetically (the dinner entryway door + wagon was my favorite design of last year!) but it feels good because this was a dream wedding to work on from start to finish. The bride, Gabrielle, and the groom, Tony, are two of the most talented and loving people I have ever had the privilege of working with. They are two of those people who you meet and instantly feel a connection with (I honestly wanted to be a guest at their wedding!). The vendors that they selected were top notch and a breeze to work with. And the icing on the cake? At the very beginning of the design process Gabrielle told me her vision and let me run with it. I really can't emphasize the importance of this enough. Find talented vendors who you trust wholeheartedly and let them do their thing. Fabulousness will ensue, I promise :)

featured // berry + gold shoot

Yesterday was an incredible day - we launched Amanda O'Shannessy Creative AND our styled shoot from our winter 2012 Styled. The Workshop was featured on Green Wedding Shoes! We'll be doing a full post soon but in the meantime, here is a look at my favorite detail of the day: an intimate ceremony set-up in the ruins at Kunde Family Estate. See that fabric backdrop? That's about 4 large containers worth of gold glitter. Did I mention we like sparkly things?
